Hardware & on-site iPad setup
How do the iPad headshot stations work?
Mount one or more iPads on stands, open your custom microsite in the browser, and the booth is live. Guests follow the on-screen prompts and snap a selfie, with no special app to install.
Are there restrictions on which iPads or tablets we can use?
None at all. Any recent iPad or Android tablet with a front-facing camera works great.
How much staffing does the iPad option require?
None. This isn't a traditional photography booth, guests use the self-serve stand on their own, and we provide full virtual support for the duration of your event.
Do we need a ring light or any special lighting?
No ring light needed. Normal exhibit-hall lighting is fine, the AI balances light and color automatically.
How many iPads can we run? Does it scale to three, five, ten?
It's unlimited. One custom microsite works on any number of tablets, so open the link on as many devices as you like.
QR code option
How does the QR code option work?
We give you one universal QR code. Display it on monitors or signage around the hall; guests scan, the same microsite opens on their phones, they snap or upload selfies, and headshots arrive by email. Unlimited scans, nothing to install.
Can we run both an iPad kiosk and a QR code, or is it one or the other?
You can run both at once. The iPad gives walk-up visibility, while QR codes on signage let guests join from anywhere.

Do guests need to download an app?
No downloads. The confirmation email contains a secure link that opens right in the browser.
Do guests just enter their email and hit take photo?
Exactly. They enter their email, snap one or two selfies, and they're done in about thirty seconds.
Is one selfie enough, or do you need a few angles?
One or two selfies work great. More angles give the AI more to learn from, but even one or two capture a strong likeness.
Can guests pick backgrounds and outfits, and choose more than one?
Yes. You can preset a curated set of looks ahead of time, or let guests choose as many backgrounds and outfit styles as they like, even all of them.
Can we slow the crowd down so it feels like an activation, not a rush-through booth?
Yes. Engagement Mode lets guests pick backgrounds and outfits on the tablet, and a live social wall shows new headshots in real time so people stick around, cheer, and snap behind-the-scenes pics.
Can we cap usage, first-come first-served for, say, 700 headshots?
Absolutely. We set a redemption limit for you and the booth closes automatically once it's reached.
What does Dreamwave do with the selfies guests upload?
